It’s an ingenious semi-hollow build that’s stood the test of time: a spruce body frame capped with hardboard paired with a center block that eliminates feedback. Liable, rugged, and beyond versatile, no guitar body sounds quite like a Danelectro’s body! The spruce/hardboard formula was originally a cost-cutting measure, but players instantly fell in love with the unique lightweight and lively sound. With assertive warmth somewhere between a solidbody and a more traditional semi-hollowbody, the Danelectro Doubleneck is a favorite for rhythmic 12-string jangle, thick leads, slide guitar, articulate six-string rhythms, and more.

Vintage-spec lipstick pickups





The 6-string/12-string Doubleneck helps you manage tone changes quickly with stacked volume/tone knobs, plus a simple 2-way guitar switch for selecting your active neck and pickup sets. Four lipstick pickups provide a wide variety of vintage-tinged tones. The bridge pickups are your go-to for jangle and leads with focused bass, punchy midrange, and treble that’s spicy or sweet (depending on tone knob settings). The neck Lipstick pickups provide an enhanced low-frequency gristle that fills sonic space and comes to life when played clean or driven. Turning both pickups on reveals a unique aspect of Danelectro wiring ? series wiring in the middle position. Compared to the parallel wiring found on most electric guitars, the series-wired positions produce an extra-beefy tone with roaring bass/midrange response and less treble.

Today, Danelectro '50s pickup specs read like diligent recitations of the originals. Inside, Alnico VI magnets uniquely wrapped with coil and tape make these pickups sound as authentic as they look. Outside, the chrome covers are made from 80/20 brass zinc, just like the tubes Danelectro bought from a cosmetics factory back in the day.
